PM orders swift action to curb electricity theft
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the concerned authorities to implement effective measures to curb electricity theft.
275000 advanced metering infrastructure (AMI meters) have been installed.
He presided over a review meeting in Islamabad to evaluate the performance of electricity distribution companies.
The Prime Minister emphasized expediting the installation of smart meters to ensure transparency in the billing system. He warned of strict action against officials found responsible for over-billing, declaring it completely unacceptable.
The meeting also addressed issues related to Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO).
Highlighting the delay in appointing Chief Executive Officers for electricity distribution companies, the Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction and urged the completion of the appointment process without further delay.
