Veteran Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away on Friday morning, August 22, 2025, at the age of 65. He died at Fortis Hospital in Mohali after suffering from a brain stroke, which was complicated by significant blood loss, The Indian Express reported.
Reports indicate he experienced the stroke on Wednesday evening, was rushed to Fortis Hospital, and despite intensive medical care, succumbed around 4:00 AM on August 22. The stroke, identified as hemorrhagic, led to substantial internal bleeding, severely affecting his prognosis.
Bhalla, also known affectionately as Chacha Chatar Singh, was celebrated for his satire and comedic characters, notably in the Chhankata series, Carry On Jatta, Jatt & Juliet, and other beloved Punjabi films, according to Wikipedia. Prior to his illustrious entertainment career, he served as a professor and head of the Department of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University, retiring in 2020.
