Govt committed to empower youth: Shaza

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that Pakistan is entering a new phase of national digital transformation. Speaking at the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit on Wednesday, she emphasized that the country’s large and dynamic youth population is a valuable asset, and the government is committed to equipping them with the tools to succeed in the digital age.

She highlighted that young people across the country will be offered training in low-, medium-, and high-tech courses to ensure they develop practical, market-ready skills. She added that technology will be used as a powerful enabler to broaden access to skill-building opportunities for a greater segment of the population.

Shaza Fatima also announced that Pakistan will host a two-day Digital Foreign Direct Investment Summit later this month, in collaboration with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) of Saudi Arabia. The summit is expected to attract over 300 international delegates, reflecting growing global interest in Pakistan’s digital economy.

She further revealed that the Islamabad IT Park is scheduled to be inaugurated on August 14th this year. Additionally, the government is in the final stages of planning another IT park in South Punjab to expand digital infrastructure and opportunities beyond major urban centers.Steps underway for digital transformation in country: Shaza

In a separate event held in Islamabad, the IT Minister reiterated the government’s focus on promoting digital literacy across the nation. She shared plans to establish 250 e-Rozgaar centers throughout the country in 2025, aiming to provide digital skills and online employment opportunities to youth in both urban and rural areas.
