Razi Ahmed Awarded France’s Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres

ISLAMABAD:In a correspondence on Jan 13, 2025 the Ambassador for France in Pakistan Mr. Nicolas Galey informed the CEO of the Lahore Literary Festival that the French Ministry of Culture had decided to award Mr. Razi Ahmed, the CEO of the Lahore Literary Festival and the Chairman of the Lahore Arts Council the Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of his exceptional talent and contribution to the field of culture, Stating that “the prestigious honor celebrates” Razi Ahmed’s dedication and impact within the cultural landscape. The honor will be conferred in a special award ceremony organized in honor of Razi Ahmed by the Embassy of France in Pakistan.

The Order of Arts and Letters is an order of France established on 2nd May, 1957 by the Minister for Culture. Its purpose is the recognition of significant contributions to the arts, literature, or the propagation of these fields. Its origin is attributed to the order of Saint Michael established 1st August, 1469 as acknowledged by French Government a historical and French government sources. The Board of the Lahore Literary Festival is honored by the recognition awarded to its Chief Executive Officer.Music festival held to mark Pak-Korea Cultural Week

Previous recipients of the Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres include US author James Baldwin, French resistance activist Josephine Baker, the inventor Alexander Graham Bell, the artist Alexandra Calder, President Dwight Eisenhower, Francis Ford Coppola, Walt Disney, Bob Dylan, John Kenneth Galbraith, Sean Connery, Sir John Gielgud, Elton John, Maharaja Bupinder Singh of Patiala, JRD Tata, Satyajeet Ray, Ravi Shankar, Amartya Sen, and Lata Mangeshkar.
