PM directs to increase Pak-Azerbaijan trade volume
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to devise a detailed plan to increase the current trade volume between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to two billion dollars.
During a review meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday regarding his recent visit to Azerbaijan, he emphasized the need for swift implementation of the signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and agreements.Pakistan, Azerbaijan pledge climate resilience
Following the announcement by the President of Azerbaijan to invest two billion dollars in Pakistan, the Prime Minister established a committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. This committee will oversee preparations for agreements in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also ordered that all necessary preparations be made urgently ahead of the anticipated visit of the Azerbaijani President to Pakistan next month.
The Prime Minister further directed the appointment of trade officers in Azerbaijan and other countries with significant trade potential for Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which have lasted for decades. He also mentioned that efforts are being made on a priority basis to fully leverage the extensive trade and investment opportunities with Central Asian nations.
