Diesel Price up by Rs7 Per Liter on Feb 1, 2025

The government on Friday increased in price of high speed diesel (HSD) up to Rs 7 per liter effective from February 1, 2025.
However, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 1 per liter.
The price will be effective for first fortnight of the current month of February 2025.
The high speed diesel is widely used in agriculture and transport sectors, Therefore, increase in its price will have inflationary impact on the masses due to increase in the transport fare.
Petrol Price Slashed by Rs10, Diesel 13 Per Liter
The price of high speed diesel has been increased from existing price of Rs 260.95 per liter to Rs 267.95 per liter witnessing an increase of Rs 7 per liter.
The price of petrol has been increased from the current price of Rs 256.13 to Rs 257.13 per liter registering a hike of Rs 1 per liter.
Petrol is mainly used in motorbikes and cars and is an alternate to CNG especially in Punjab province.
The consumers in Punjab province has been using imported LNG in CNG stations due to ban of using indigenous gas for the last several years due to shortage of gas in the country.
The finance ministry in a statement said that the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had reviewed and adjusted consumer prices for petroleum products in view of recent fluctuations in the international oil market.
It further said that the prices of these products had been fixed for first fortnight of the current month.
At present, the government is charging higher rate of petroleum levy (PL) amounting to Rs 60 per liter each on petrol and diesel in a bid to collect more revenue from the oil consumers.
LPG Prices Increased
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced revised prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for February 2025, reflecting an increase in both producer and consumer rates of LPG.
According to the latest notification, the LPG producer price has been set at Rs. 212,672.54 per ton or Rs. 2,509.54 per 11.8 kg cylinder, marking an increase of Rs. 3,688.11 per ton and Rs. 43.52 per cylinder compared to January 2025.
Similarly, the LPG consumer price has been revised to Rs. 253,972.54 per ton or Rs. 2,996.88 per 11.8 kg cylinder, reflecting the same increase of Rs. 3,688.11 per ton and Rs. 43.52 per cylinder from the previous month.
The Ogra said that the LPG producer price is linked with Saudi Aramco-CP and US$ dollar exchange rate.
As compared to previous month Saudi Aramco-CP has increased by 1.6%. The average Dollar exchange rate has slightly increased by 0.19% resulting to increase in LPG consumer price by Rs.43.52/11.8 kg cylinder (1.47%). The per Kg increase in LPG consumer price is Rs.3.68
