NA finance committee accords approval to enhance monthly perks and privileges of parliamentarians
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Finance committee has accorded approval to increase salaries and privileges of members of parliament.
Speaker National Assembly (NA) has forwarded finance committee recommendations to the Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
Finance Committee has given approval to bring monthly salaries and privileges of MNAs and Senators at par with federal secretary.Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue meets Turkish Ambassador
Following the approval by PM, every MNA and Senator will get Rs 519000 monthly salary and privileges after deductions. The other facilities will also be provided to parliamentarians equal to federal secretary.
According to parliamentary sources Finance committee met under speaker NA Ayyaz Sadiq who sent the recommendations of finance committee to PM .
NA finance committee has accorded approval unanimously.
According to it consensus approval has been given to fix monthly salary and privileges of every MNA and senator Rs 519000.
It is pertinent to mention hare PPP, PML-N and other parties were united in the matter of enhancement in salary and privileges of parliamentarians.
67 parliamentarians of PTI had also demanded in writing for enhancement in salaries and privileges.
Members of parliament had demanded the perks and privileges of an MNA and Senator per month be fixed Rs 1000000. However Speaker NA Ayyaz Sadiq had rejected their this demand.
As per sources Senate has already passed bill for raising salaries of members of parliament.
The powers for increasing the perks and privileges of parliamentarians in the bill were assigned to parliamentary finance committee.
According to recommendations of finance committee the salaries of chairman Senate and speaker NA will also increase according to this ratio.
Final approval will be given by PM Shehbaz Sharif.
NA spokesperson has also confirmed the recommendations for enhancement in perks and privileges of parliamentarians.
