PTA Conducts Raid on Ufone Frenchise
Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in close cooperation with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore, carried out another effective operation against a Ufone franchisee located in Burewala. This franchisee was discovered to be engaged in the unlawful distribution of SIMs.TikTok Partners with PTA to Launch DigitalHifazat Contest Focused on Promoting Digital Safety
During the operation, authorities seized 14 active SIMs, 25 suspicious SIMs, 5 BVS devices, and 3 mobile phones from the franchisee. The FIA team took these items as evidence. Two retailers were apprehended at the scene, and an FIR has been filed by the agency. The FIA Cybercrime Circle is continuing to investigate the matter. This action was prompted by a complaint lodged by the PTA with the FIA regarding the illegal activation of SIMs through the sales network.
This crackdown is part of the PTA’s ongoing initiatives to combat the unlawful issuance of SIMs and highlights the Authority’s commitment to eliminating this issue.
