5th Meeting of CPEC’s Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC)
BEIJING: 5th Meeting of CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC). The fifth session of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC) convened in Beijing on January 10, 2025. The meeting was jointly presided over by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Amna Baloch, and China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Sun Weidong.
Both delegations expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved since the fourth JWG-ICC meeting held in Islamabad on January 21, 2024. They reiterated their dedication to the advanced development of CPEC 2.0, with a primary focus on industrialization, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), clean energy initiatives, agricultural projects, and livelihood enhancements. The meeting underscored the significant contribution of CPEC in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering mutually beneficial cooperation, and achieving shared prosperity, including collaborations with third-party countries.

Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong emphasized the complementary alignment of the five new corridors under CPEC 2.0—growth, livelihood, innovation, openness, and green development—with Pakistan’s national growth strategy centered on the “Five E’s”: Exports, E-Pakistan, Energy, Environment, and Equity.
Both parties reaffirmed their determination to strengthen cooperation in media, cultural exchange programs, and people-to-people connections to expedite the establishment of a China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future in the New Era.
