Zahid Mir to Step Down as PRL CEO After Six-Year Tenure

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) has announced that Zahid Mir, its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will step down from his role at the end of this year.

He will continue until 31 December 2025 to ensure an orderly transition, the company disclosed in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Mir, a petroleum engineer and MBA, has been at the helm of PRL since August 2019. Under his leadership, the refinery navigated a challenging period marked by fluctuating oil prices, evolving energy demands, and the need for modernization in Pakistan’s refining sector.

In June this year, he was reappointed for another two-year term, set to begin on 1 August 2025. However, his resignation means PRL must now look for a successor well before that period.

With over 32 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, Mir has held senior positions in field operations, production, engineering, and project development.

His career spans national and international companies, including Shell, Kufpec, Premier Oil, and the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), where he last served as CEO.
