Pakistani Youth to Visit Japan under the JENESYS Program

Islamabad: On the invitation of the Government of Japan, the first group of six Pakistani youth will visit Japan from December 10 to 17, 2024, under the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) program. A total of 41 youths from SAARC countries have been invited to participate in this program, which is being held under the theme of “Energy.”

JENESYS is a youth exchange initiative between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, launched by the Japanese Government, aimed at promoting mutual respect and understanding among the people of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.Japan provides 18.5 million USD for Flood Management Enhancement in the Indus Basin

Focused on the theme of “Energy,” the participants from SAARC countries will have the opportunity to learn more about Japan’s economy, society, history, politics, and diplomatic relations, and experience Japan’s diverse culture through lectures and site visits.

The Embassy of Japan organized a pre-departure orientation session today for the youth to provide them with useful information before their departure for Japan.

H.E. Mr. AKAMATSU Shuichi, the Ambassador-designate of Japan to Pakistan, while speaking on the occasion, expressed hope that their stay in Japan would be a rewarding experience.

He encouraged the group to make the most of this opportunity and learn as much as possible about Japan during their brief visit. He also highlighted that the homestay experience in Japan would be invaluable, offering them not only a chance to experience Japanese life firsthand but also to provide the Japanese people with an opportunity to learn about Pakistan’s rich and historic culture and gain a deeper understanding of the country.

He expressed hope that the visiting youth would serve as a bridge to further strengthen mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan.

Every year, the Government of Japan invites several youth groups from SAARC countries for this short-term program. The initiative aims to promote capacity-building and foster mutual understanding between the youth of Japan and the SAARC nations.
