During a news conference in Islamabad today, he highlighted the importance of the SCO summit, noting that this will be the first visit by China’s Premier Li Qiang to Pakistan in eleven years.

He mentioned that the Chinese Premier is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with Pakistani officials during his visit.

Iqbal pointed out that the world is recognizing the recent positive trends in Pakistan’s economic indicators.

The Planning Minister expressed concern over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) decision to stage a protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on Tuesday, recalling previous attempts by the same political party to disrupt the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project through similar sit-ins and protests.

Ahsan Iqbal criticized the founder of PTI for fostering a politics of division and urged the public to reject such turmoil.
