Week-long special anti-polio vaccination drive underway
ISLAMABAD: A week-long special anti-polio vaccination campaign is currently taking place nationwide. During this initiative, children up to the age of five will receive anti-polio vaccine drops.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the campaign at a ceremony in Islamabad with the goal of completely eradicating polio from the country. He inaugurated the campaign across 115 districts, aiming to vaccinate 30 million children against this crippling disease.
As part of the anti-polio drive, approximately 286,000 polio workers will visit homes to administer the vaccine drops to children.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that the federal government, in partnership with provincial authorities and other collaborators, will succeed in fully eliminating polio from the country. He urged parents to ensure that their children under five years old receive the polio drops to safeguard them from lifelong disability.
