US agrees to assist Pakistan in modernizing FIA along lines of FBI

ISLAMABAD: The United States has committed to supporting Pakistan in upgrading the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to meet modern standards, similar to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

This decision was made during a meeting in Islamabad between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the significance of US assistance in strengthening the capacities of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies. He highlighted the pressing need to equip the Civil Armed Forces with modern tools and technology to combat terrorism and manage emergencies effectively, describing it as a key priority.

He further noted the long-standing and robust relationship between Pakistan and the United States, spanning several decades. Mohsin Naqvi assured that no foreign nationals with valid documentation would be deported from Islamabad. However, he firmly stated that illegal foreign nationals would not be permitted to remain in the city under any circumstances.

Natalie Baker extended her best wishes to Pakistan for successfully hosting the Champions Trophy.
