Uraan Pakistan Program a ‘revolutionary’ step towards sustainable economic growth
ISLAMABAD: Professor Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, described the current government’s five-year homegrown national economic plan (2024-29), named ‘Uraan Pakistan,’ as a ‘revolutionary’ move towards achieving much-needed sustainable economic development.
“This is a revolutionary step that can succeed by fostering greater national unity and avoiding political chaos or long marches. What is required instead is an economic long march, so that we can compete effectively on the global stage,” he stated in a televised address before the official launch of the plan.
He explained that while the government had initially implemented some ‘immediate’ measures to address current challenges, long-term, continuous planning was essential for the prosperity and economic strength of the country.Govt to launch Economic Tranformation Plan tomorrow
The minister further noted that during its previous terms, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had introduced Vision-2010 and Vision-2025, but these plans could not be fully realized due to political instability.
“However, now the government has once again developed a five-year plan, which will serve as the foundation for sustainable economic development,” he said, emphasizing that the benefits of this national economic plan would be felt by ordinary citizens through improved education, healthcare, increased employment, and expanded business opportunities.
