Turkish President to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: On the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will embark on a two-day visit to Pakistan starting Wednesday.

According to the Foreign Office, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders.Turkish Ambassador Meets Rana Tanveer Hussain, Discusses Bilateral Ties

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan will co-chair the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). At the conclusion of the session, a Joint Declaration, along with several agreements and MoUs, is expected to be signed. The two leaders will also address a joint press conference.

President Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. Additionally, alongside PM Shehbaz Sharif, he will address the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum, bringing together leading investors and business representatives from both countries.

The High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) is the top decision-making platform for guiding and strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkiye. It comprises multiple Joint Standing Committees focusing on trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defence, agriculture, IT, health, science and technology, and education.

So far, six sessions of the HLSCC have been held, with the last one taking place in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020.

Pakistan and Turkiye share historic fraternal ties, and President Erdogan’s visit, along with the 7th HLSCC Session, will further deepen bilateral relations and expand multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
