Govt committed to timely completion of CPEC projects

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has reiterated the government’s commitment to the timely implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects to promote economic growth and development.

He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting on CPEC in Islamabad. The minister emphasized China’s expertise in developing industrial zones and mentioned that Pakistan has requested China to establish two model industrial zones.

While reviewing the progress on training 1,000 agriculture graduates in China, the minister urged full facilitation for experts traveling for agricultural training.

Ahsan Iqbal noted that the Prime Minister will soon announce the 5Es National Economic Transformation Plan Framework, which will be incorporated into the five-year development plan, followed by the creation of a comprehensive National Agriculture and Industrial Policy.

The Ministry of Railways and Communications updated the meeting on the progress of the ML-1 and Karakoram Highway projects and outlined their future plans.

Additionally, while presiding over a meeting for the New Pakistan Country Partnership Framework with the World Bank, the minister emphasized the need for ministries to adopt emerging technologies to transform Pakistan into a tech-driven economy.

The World Bank’s strategy was designed to address Pakistan’s socio-economic challenges, in alignment with the “5Es Framework to Turnaround Pakistan.” The minister urged ministries to ensure the strategy reflects government priorities and the national development framework.
