Syed Noor Reveals How Ghunghat Sparked His Love for Saima

Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Syed Noor has revealed that his blockbuster film Ghunghat not only became a milestone in his career but also changed the course of his personal life.
In an interview, Noor shared that the casting of Ghunghat was not smooth. Actors Neeli and Noman Ijaz were initially finalized for the lead roles but both withdrew at the last moment. Their exit paved the way for Shaan and Saima, who eventually turned the film into a commercial success.
According to Noor, Noman Ijaz was originally supposed to play Shaan’s character but stepped aside due to personal reasons. Buyers and distributors were skeptical about Shaan’s casting and even demanded refunds. Noor, however, stood firm in his decision.

The situation with the female lead was equally dramatic. Neeli was the first choice, but her sudden withdrawal gave Saima her breakthrough opportunity. It was during the filming process, Noor said, that he developed feelings for Saima.
The movie went on to win acclaim, with audiences appreciating the chemistry between Shaan and Saima. For Noor, the project was doubly significant, as it marked the beginning of his love story with Saima. The two later married, creating a partnership that extended from cinema to real life.
Noor was earlier married to Rukhsana Noor, with whom he had a son. Following her passing, his marriage to Saima symbolized a new phase of companionship.
