He clarified that his motivation now comes purely from enjoyment rather than chasing milestones.

Kohli recently played a crucial role in India’s Champions Trophy victory in Dubai, reigniting discussions about his future in international cricket.

Captain Rohit Sharma had also dismissed similar speculations regarding his own retirement. The 36-year-old, who stepped away from T20 internationals after last year’s World Cup win, is preparing for another Indian Premier League (IPL) season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

With India’s upcoming England Test tour in focus, he stressed that he is happy with his current phase in the sport.

He acknowledged the difficulty players face in deciding when to retire, especially those who thrive on competition.

Sharing an insightful conversation with coach Rahul Dravid, Kohli mentioned that retirement decisions are never easy and require deep self-reflection.

He admitted that the competitive drive often makes it tough to walk away at the right time.

Kohli also expressed his excitement about cricket’s return to the Olympics at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, calling it a landmark moment for the sport.

He credited the rise of T20 leagues like the IPL for cricket’s inclusion in the global event.

When asked about a potential return to T20Is for a shot at an Olympic gold medal, Kohli jokingly said he might consider sneaking in for a game if it meant securing the medal.
