SOEs reforms aimed at improving governance, efficiency

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that the government’s reforms for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) are designed to enhance governance, efficiency, and financial stability.


He made these remarks during a banquet held in honor of Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in Islamabad.


The Finance Minister emphasized Pakistan’s enduring partnership with the ADB and highlighted its crucial role in advancing Pakistan’s development goals. He praised the ADB’s ongoing support in essential areas such as infrastructure, energy, education, and social development.


Aurangzeb also urged the ADB to increase engagement with the private sector in Pakistan.
In his address, ADB President Asakawa reaffirmed the institution’s support for the current SOE reforms and their significance in strengthening the country’s fiscal framework. He commended Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring transparency and long-term sustainability in managing its major financial responsibilities.
