At the meeting’s conclusion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the transfer of the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of Government to the Russian Federation, stating that the next meeting will be held in Russia next year. He extended congratulations to Russia and assured them of Pakistan’s full support during their chairmanship.
Describing the meeting as a success, the Prime Minister highlighted the collective commitment to a better and sustainable future for future generations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the common goals of the SCO.
Emphasizing the importance of prioritizing collaboration over political differences, he called for building on achievements, addressing shared challenges, and working together to ensure that the SCO remains a symbol of stability and development for the benefit of all member nations.
Addressing the ongoing situation in Gaza, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the genocide occurring there, urging the international community to take responsibility for ensuring an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. He advocated for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital.
The Prime Minister also hosted a reception in honor of the SCO leaders and their delegates.
