Schedule for Tri-Series in UAE Announced
Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates are set to compete in a T20I tri-nation series in Sharjah later this month, with the tournament acting as preparation for the Asia Cup and next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.
The series begins on 29 August and will feature each team playing the others twice in the round-robin stage. The top two sides will then contest the final on 7 September, also in Sharjah.
Pakistan will open the series against Afghanistan, a team they’ve faced five times at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in T20Is. Pakistan currently holds a narrow edge, having won three of those encounters while Afghanistan have claimed victory in two.
The upcoming series arrives at a crucial time for all three teams. Pakistan are currently involved in a T20I series against the West Indies, following a 2-1 defeat to Bangladesh in their last T20 assignment. Afghanistan, on the other hand, haven’t played in this format since December, when they defeated Zimbabwe 2-1.
The UAE enters the series with momentum, having recorded a surprise series win against Bangladesh in May, showcasing their growth in the shortest format.
With the T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, this tri-series provides a chance for teams to test combinations, build depth, and sharpen match fitness ahead of competitive international action.
