Relief In KE Electricity Bills June 2025

Islamabad: The consumers of K-Electric are set to have a relief in its electricity bills for June 2025 on account of fuel adjustment for month of March 2025.
The national electric power regulatory authority (Nepra) conducted a public hearing here on Thursday to consider a request for reduction of Rs 5.2 per unit for KE consumers.
KE Consumers will enjoy a relief of Rs 6.79 billion if the power regulator approves the petition.
Consumers raised Concerns that NEPRA has not been enforcing its own Consumer Service Rules. Consumers said that they had submitted electricity bills to NEPRA, but the regulator had not conducted any inquiry till date.
NEPRA Officials said that they had prepared an inquiry report but the report was not shared with K-Electric. The authority has directed the NEPRA officials to get response from K-Electric.

Karachi Electricity Consumers had raised serious concerns over Severe Load Shedding in Extreme Heat.
They complained that KE had started load shedding as soon as the heatwave began. Consumers asked why Nepra had not penalized the K Electric over load shedding.
NEPRA Member Rafiq Shaikh raised serious concerns over a response of KE on load shedding in Karachi.
K-Electric Officials Responded that when their teams visit to disconnect power over non-payment, the consumers attack them.They said that even in the presence of police, KE employees were held hostages.
They said that load shedding was happening due to disconnections. NEPRA Member did not buy response of KE and announced to reserve the judgement.
