Islamabad: The special committee of Parliament has recommended Justice Yahya Afridi to be appointed as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan. The committee approved the recommendation with a two-thirds majority and has sent his name to the Prime Minister for formal approval.
Justice Yahya Afridi, born on January 23, 1965, in Dera Ghazi Khan, received his early education from Aitchison College in Lahore. He graduated from Government College Lahore and earned a Master’s degree in Economics from Punjab University, Lahore.

On December 30, 2016, Justice Afridi took oath as the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on June 28, 2018.
