LAHORE: The Punjab government has commenced the distribution of 40,000 Kisan Cards throughout the province.
This information was disclosed during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, which focused on the Agriculture Department’s initiatives in Lahore.
The briefing outlined that Kisan Cards will be accessible to farmers at agricultural centers located in each tehsil’s agriculture office. Beginning in mid-next month, farmers will be able to utilize the Kisan Cards for wheat cultivation.
This initiative is designed to assist 500,000 farmers, with each eligible for loans ranging between PKR 30,000 and PKR 150,000 per acre.
In addition to the Kisan Card program, the meeting approved the Agricultural Mall Pilot Project for Okara, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Sargodha. This project will offer farmers access to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural products, as well as loans and advisory services.
The Fresh Agriculture Graduates Intern Program was also approved, aiming to train 1,000 agriculture graduates across Punjab. Furthermore, the CM Green Tractor Scheme will provide 10,000 tractors to farmers over the next year.
