PTA, operators rush to restore flood-hit telecom services

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Saturday it is monitoring telecom disruptions in flood-affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces after flash floods damaged several cellular and fixed-line sites.

PTA leads coordination efforts

PTA teams are on the ground, working with federal and provincial authorities, district administrations, and telecom operators to restore services swiftly. In Buner, officials met with Federal Minister Ameer Muqaam, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Gohar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayum, and senior representatives of PTCL and cellular mobile operators to assess recovery progress.

Vital role in relief operations

The regulator said communication services are critical for ongoing rescue and relief operations and stressed that all operators are making “all-out efforts” to restore connectivity at the earliest. PTA added that it would continue to supervise restoration work to ensure uninterrupted services in affected areas.
