President calls for greater Chinese investment in diverse sectors of Pakistan’s economy

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has urged increased Chinese investment across various sectors of Pakistan’s economy.

He shared these sentiments during a meeting with a Chinese business delegation led by the Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong.Pak-US Tech Investment Conference to Boost Collaboration

The President emphasized that such investments would strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two friendly nations. He highlighted the importance of fostering closer interactions between the people of both countries, particularly among investors and businesses, to enhance bilateral trade and economic ties.

The Chinese delegation expressed a strong interest in investing $1 billion to establish a medical city in Pakistan, aimed at advancing the country’s healthcare sector. They also showed interest in a range of sectors, including agriculture, livestock, energy, transport, and manufacturing.

Welcoming the delegation, President Zardari noted the shared interests and perspectives between Pakistan and China on key issues, as well as their longstanding and historic ties.

He reiterated that Pakistan and China have been steadfast friends for decades, adding that his vision to develop Gwadar Port into a regional trade and economic hub would not only enhance regional connectivity but also promote trade and economic collaboration.

The President assured the delegation that Pakistan is eager to welcome Chinese investors and prioritizes economic partnerships with China. He underscored the government’s commitment to providing every possible support and facilitation to Chinese investors.

He also highlighted the introduction of Chinese language courses in Sindh, which he described as a crucial step toward strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and other provincial ministers.
