Power Generation Up 21% in May 2025

Pakistan’s power generation in May 2025 increased by 1% YoY and 21% MoM to 12,755 GWh, highest in 9 months. Governments decision to reduce electricity prices led to this high demand.

In 11MFY25, power generation remained flattish YoY to 113,415 GWh as compared to 113,598 GWh in 11MFY24. Power generation in April 2025 had also recorded increase. Amid increase in power generation, the consumers are going to face increase in electricity rates on account of fuel adjustment.

Power generation cost (fuel cost) down by 11% YoY and 22% MoM in May 2025. In 11MFY25, power generation cost fell 2% YoY to Rs8.7/unit. Electricity Bill Estimator
