Power Generation Increased By 6% in Nov 2024

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s power generation increased by 6% YoY to 8,032 GWh in Nov 2024, marking the second consecutive YoY rise. This increase is due to pickup in economic activity.

In 5MFY25, power generation fell by 4% YoY to 58,840 GWh as compared to 61,260 GWh in 5MFY24.

Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project:

Power generation cost (fuel cost) increased by 2% YoY while down 20% MoM in Nov 2024. The MoM decline is due to higher mix of Hydel and Nuclear in overall generation. In 5MFY25, power generation cost increased by 4% to Rs8.3/unit.
