PM vows to advance objective of combating climate change
Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to tackling climate change through close cooperation with the global community and the United Nations.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya, who called on him in Islamabad today (Friday).Cross-border data vital for tackling climate change, pandemic issues.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister acknowledged the significant contributions of the UN Country Team in Pakistan and stressed the importance of further enhancing collaboration in areas related to sustainable development and climate action.
He highlighted that climate financing remains a critical element in addressing climate change impacts and voiced hope that developed nations would honor their commitments in this regard.
Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan will continue to work closely with the UN on key climate-related matters, particularly in implementing various projects.
Furthermore, he underscored the necessity of bridging the financing gap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and advocated for amplifying the voice and representation of developing nations in global financial institutions through reforms in the international financial system.
