PM reiterates govt’s commitment to supporting SMEs
LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), calling them the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.
He chaired a meeting in Lahore focused on boosting the growth of SMEs and reviewing initiatives led by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).Govt committed to improving agriculture sector: Aurangzeb
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of taking concrete measures to integrate Pakistani industries into the global supply chain. He also urged the Federation and provincial governments to collaborate for the advancement of SMEs across the country.
The Prime Minister was briefed that SMEDA’s Board of Directors has been formed and is meeting regularly. The process of hiring international experts to promote SME development in Pakistan has also commenced.
The briefing highlighted that the State Bank of Pakistan has directed banks to simplify loan application forms to make financing more accessible to SMEs. Additionally, the Federal Ministry of Industry and Production has intensified coordination with provincial governments for SME development, with data collection efforts underway nationwide.
