Meeting between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with the Chief Adviser of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo.
The discussion was conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere, underscoring the deep-rooted goodwill and strong fraternal ties shared by Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister highlighted the shared historical, cultural, and religious bonds between the two nations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in trade, cultural exchanges, and fostering people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to identify new opportunities for economic cooperation. He underscored the untapped potential to expand trade in key sectors such as chemicals, cement clinkers, surgical instruments, leather products, and the IT industry.
Acknowledging Bangladesh’s recent measures to facilitate trade and travel between the two countries, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for significant steps such as lifting the 100% physical inspection requirement for Pakistani consignments and removing the special security desk at Dhaka airport for Pakistani travelers. He also appreciated the elimination of additional clearance requirements for Pakistani visa applicants.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, highlighting the increasing frequency of high-level engagements. They agreed to intensify and broaden cooperation in all areas of shared interest while working collaboratively toward mutual development goals.
The leaders emphasized the value of people-to-people exchanges and cultural interactions, such as increased collaboration between artists, athletes, academics, and students from both countries. They noted with pleasure the recent visit of the Bangladesh Cricket Team to Pakistan and a concert by a Pakistani artist in Dhaka.
Both sides committed to enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums, including D-8, to achieve shared objectives.
