Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Participates in 7th Ministerial Meeting of CICA
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar virtually attended the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijan, the current CICA Chair, and conducted in a virtual format.

In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to CICA’s vision of achieving shared, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security in the region. He underscored CICA’s critical role in addressing pressing regional issues, including unresolved political conflicts, enduring disputes, and widespread poverty, which collectively impede the region’s progress.
Highlighting the necessity of dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international legal frameworks, Senator Dar emphasized the need for equitable and inclusive political solutions to long-standing issues like Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Prime Minister placed significant emphasis on the importance of enhancing regional connectivity to drive economic integration and sustainable development.
He spotlighted transformative initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), citing their potential to facilitate shared economic growth, expand infrastructure development, and strengthen trade and energy networks throughout Asia. These projects, he noted, hold the promise of fostering regional prosperity and cooperation.
Pakistan, a founding member of CICA, remains steadfast in its support of the platform’s mission to enhance collaboration and build confidence among its 28 member states. Through such initiatives, CICA aims to promote peace, security, stability, and prosperity across Asia.
