Mushahid calls for Palestine & Kashmir solution via UN Resolutions
ISLAMABAD: Speaking as a distinguished guest at the International Parliament for Tolerance & Peace (IPTP) conference—organized by former Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jaswan from the United Arab Emirates—Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed emphasized that achieving tolerance and peace requires resolving longstanding disputes like Palestine and Kashmir in accordance with United Nations resolutions that uphold their right to self-determination.
He also called for the removal of blockades to ensure the continuous flow of humanitarian aid and the enforcement of ceasefires in ongoing conflicts, particularly in Gaza and Sudan. In the case of Sudan, he advocated for a peace process that is both civilian-led and civilian-owned to bring an end to the civil war, which has led to severe food shortages and displaced nearly a third of the population, creating a dire refugee crisis.kashmir (administrative division)
Senator Mushahid Hussain also welcomed the election of President Trump, considering it a positive development for global peace. He noted that President Trump is neither an advocate of war nor a proponent of a new Cold War. He praised Trump’s diplomatic efforts in Ukraine and his willingness to engage in negotiations with Iran over nuclear issues, stressing that such challenges can only be resolved through direct dialogue rather than force or coercion.
Furthermore, Senator Mushahid Hussain commended the UAE for its efforts in promoting peace under the visionary leadership of President Mohammed bin Zayed, whom he described as a close ally of Pakistan. He highlighted that over 100 nationalities coexist in harmony and security within the UAE.
Concluding his speech, he pointed out that 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, originally hosted by Indonesia in 1955, which brought together Asian and African nations on a shared platform for the first time. Pakistan played a founding role in this initiative, which laid the groundwork for the rise of the Global South. He remarked that the world is now witnessing a historic shift in the balance of economic and political power from the West to the East.
The conference brought together parliamentarians, political figures, and thought leaders from 40 countries across four continents—Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Keynote speeches were delivered by the Speaker of the Tajikistan Parliament, Mohammed Zakirzade, and the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Martin Chungong.
The IPTP serves as the parliamentary branch of the Global Council for Tolerance & Peace. Last month, its President, Ahmed Mohammed Al Jaswan, visited Pakistan to deliver a keynote address at the International Conference on “Regional Connectivity & Pakistan,” hosted by the Pakistan-China Institute, which is led by Senator Mushahid Hussain.
