Pakistan’s Exports to Regional Countries Grow by 4.09% in Four Months
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports to seven regional countries grew by 4.09% in the first four months of the fiscal year 2024-25 compared to the same period last year, totaling $1,506.131 million. These exports represent 14.33% of Pakistan’s total exports of $10.507 billion during July-October 2024-25, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Key Highlights:
• China: Remained the top destination for Pakistan’s exports in the region, despite a decline of 14.58% from $952.385 million to $813.441 million.
• Afghanistan: Exports increased significantly by 59.85%, rising from $182.616 million to $291.773 million.
• Bangladesh: Exports surged by 28.60%, reaching $247.313 million from $192.311 million.
• Sri Lanka: Recorded a 29.22% increase, with exports growing from $115.256 million to $148.937 million.
• Nepal: Exports declined to $0.742 million from $1.138 million.
• Maldives: Exports rose sharply by 47.71%, from $1.182 million to $1.746 million.
• India: Exports saw a significant jump to $0.374 million from $0.069 million.
Regional Imports:
Imports from the seven regional countries increased by 35.58%, totaling $5,226.807 million during the same period, compared to $3,855.115 million last year.
• China: Dominated regional imports, rising by 36.36% from $3,737.618 million to $5,096.881 million.
• India: Imports increased modestly from $73.575 million to $76.280 million.
• Afghanistan: Imports surged by 277.97%, reaching $7.174 million from $1.898 million.
• Sri Lanka: Imports slightly declined by 3.37%, dropping from $21.224 million to $20.507 million.
• Bangladesh: Imports increased to $25.202 million from $20.633 million.
• Nepal: Imports rose from $0.042 million to $0.763 million.
This growth in trade highlights the evolving dynamics of Pakistan’s regional commerce, with significant increases in both exports and imports, particularly with China, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
