Pakistan welcomes UNGA resolution for immediate ceasefire in Gaza
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed its appreciation for the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) yesterday, which calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.
During the weekly press briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan also supports the resolution urging the lifting of restrictions on UNRWA and its humanitarian operations in Gaza and the West Bank.Pakistan keen to strengthen ties with Tajikistan: Leghari
The Spokesperson emphasized Pakistan’s demand for an immediate end to hostilities in Palestine, the cessation of genocide in Gaza, the protection of civilians and their infrastructure, unimpeded humanitarian aid access for those in need, full backing for UNRWA and its designated humanitarian activities, and timely healthcare for individuals in urgent need of medical assistance.
She further stressed the need for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law, including war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied territories.
Speaking on the current situation in Syria, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch noted Pakistan’s concern over the escalating violence and reaffirmed its support for efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive resolution to the crisis.
She stated that Pakistan fully supports Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. The Spokesperson emphasized that any resolution of the Syrian conflict must align with the aspirations of the Syrian people for peace, stability, and development.
Baloch reiterated that it is the right of the Syrian people to determine their own future and make decisions regarding their destiny. She also highlighted Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an inclusive political process in Syria, guided by UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Finally, the Spokesperson underscored that no external intervention or foreign imposition should dictate Syria’s future direction.
