Pakistan, Turkiye agree to enhance ties in diverse fields

NEW YORK: Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to strengthen their collaborative efforts in trade, investment, defense, and security. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two leaders discussed preparations for the upcoming 7th session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which is scheduled to take place in Islamabad soon. They also addressed regional and global issues, particularly the ongoing genocide and the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and cessation of hostilities.

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Turkey’s unwavering support for the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

During their conversation, President Erdogan commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s economic strategies, which have played a significant role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. He praised the Prime Minister’s leadership and commitment to implementing vital economic reforms.
