Pakistan secures third position in Far East Cup 2024

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani weightlifting team showcased remarkable skill at the Far East Cup 2024 held in Sakhalin, Russia, finishing in an impressive third place overall.

Hanzala Dastgir Butt (WAPDA) earned a bronze medal in the 109 kg category, while Haider Sultan (Pakistan Army) also secured a bronze in the 61 kg category. Young weightlifter Haider Shakeeb earned a silver medal in the under-15 (96 kg) category, demonstrating his vast potential.

The Far East Cup 2024 saw participation from teams representing Pakistan, China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. The outstanding performance of Pakistan’s athletes highlighted the country’s growing strength in the field of weightlifting on the global stage.
