In recent months, Israel has increasingly acted in violation of international law and the UN Charter, resulting in a severe humanitarian crisis. Israel has jeopardized regional peace and security with the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. The recent incursion into Lebanon has further heightened these tensions, impacting the lives of innocent civilians.
The populations of Palestine, Lebanon, and the broader region deserve to live without fear and violence. It is vital for all parties to retreat from the edge and for the international community to take prompt action to reduce tensions. The existing culture of impunity and neglect of international law must be addressed without delay.
Pakistan reaffirms its call for the UN Security Council to maintain peace and security in the region, protect Lebanon’s sovereignty, and put an end to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Pakistan has consistently supported a two-state solution as the cornerstone for lasting peace in the Middle East, with a fair and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue grounded in international law and consistent with relevant UN and OIC resolutions.
