Ogra Increases Gas Prices for 2025-26
Our Correspondent:
Islamabad: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has allowed increase in gas prices for the consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) for fiscal year 2025-26.
The regulator has sent its decision to the federal government to notify the gas prices for the different category of the consumers.
The federal government is bound to notify gas prices within forty days of issuing the decisions of the Ogra.
Ogra in a statement said that under Section 8(1) of OGRA Ordinance, 2002, vide its decisions dated May 20, 2025, it has determined the Estimated Revenue Requirement of SSGCL & SNGPL for FY 2025-26.

Both determinations have been sent to Federal Government for receipt of category-wise natural gas sale price advice as required under Section 8(3) of the OGRA Ordinance.
The SSGC had sought increase in average prescribed price of gas at 2398.9 per mmbtu but the regulator had allowed an increase of Rs 103.95 per mmbtu.
At present, the average prescribed price of SSGL is Rs 1762,51 per mmbtu.
The SNGPL has sought an increase of Rs 707.37 per mmbtu but the Ogra had allowed an increase of Rs 116.90 per mmbtu.
Increase in prescribed price for SNGPL is mainly due to the impact of RLNG diversion made in pursuance of Federal Cabinet decision dated October 30, 2023. Considering the consistent exponential increase of RLNG diversion which is impacting the gas price, the Authority has directed SNGPL to immediately take up the matter for review of gas supply management with Federal Government, taking into account the sectoral energy demand, international contractual obligations and macro-economic factors.
Through the above said determination, Federal Government has been requested for advice on category-wise sale prices. Any revision, as advised by Federal Government, shall be accordingly notified by OGRA. Till such time the existing category-wise natural gas sale prices shall continue to prevail.
