Negotiation committee meeting remains inconclusive due to non participation of PTI committee members
ISLAMABAD: Meeting of negotiation committee ended inconclusive owing to non participation of PTI.
Dead lock between government committee and PTI persists.
Speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq waited for PTI members for 55 minutes. Opposition did not attend negotiation committees despite telephonic contacts and messages. Due to it meeting was called off.Ayaz welcomes negotiation committee members in first In-camera meeting
Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Ishaq Dar has said speaker will settle next meeting in the event of contact with opposition.
NA speaker said it is hoped both the committees will continue their negotiation. Negotiation committee still stands.
The meeting of members of government committee was held in committee room No 5 of parliament which was presided over by speaker NA Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq. But proceedings of meeting of committee could not proceed further due to opposition boycott.
The members of committee waited for PTI members of committee for 50 to 55 minutes. Joint secretary was sent o chamber of opposition leader Umar Ayoub where members of PTI were present. But they declined to attend the meeting. Upon it meeting was terminated.
Talking to media men, NA speaker said on the occasion that during last meeting it was decided government committee will give reply within 7 days. We had contacted all members and non had said they would not attend the meeting.
We sent message to secretary to opposition leader but it was told opposition leader is engaged. As speaker my doors are still open and I hope both the parties will continue talks. Today’s meeting was informal.
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar said We have come in the meeting. It was our desire opposition should have come. Solution to problems is found within the parameters of law and constitution. 126 days dharna also ended through talks. PTI attitude is not appropriate. He still hopes PTI will contact speaker NA and come to negotiation table.
Rana Sana Ullah advisor to Prime Minister (PM) said PTI attitude is regrettable. Imran Khan attitude is based on stubbornness. While Nawaz Sharif has always believed on talks. We have shown flexibility. But such is not done on other side. Parliamentary democratic system moves forward with talks and not deadlock. What way they want to carve out through road it will not be carved out. This will cause loss to them and democracy. One mistake was committed by them on November 25 and they refused to hold public meeting in Sangjani. One mistake they have committed by coming out of talks.
He held the incumbent government will stay till 2029. It is facing no threat. PTI wants to bring instability while we are striving for stability.
Irfan Siddiqui spokesperson for government negotiation committee said we have prepared our reply. We had come with full preparations. But barrister Gohar said they would not come in the meeting of negotiation committee. Had PTI come then we would have informed them about our reply. Committee will become meaningless if they don’t participate.
