NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, met with the newly elected President of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Yang, in New York.

Ambassador Akram extended his congratulations to Philemon Yang on his election as the President of the current session of the General Assembly and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to support him.

He praised the General Assembly President’s emphasis on sustainable economic growth, peace, security, and human dignity—core principles of the UN Charter.

Ambassador Akram expressed confidence that the United Nations would effectively tackle global challenges under President Yang’s capable leadership.

Additionally, the agenda for the 79th session of the UN General Assembly was discussed.

President Yang thanked Ambassador Munir Akram for his warm congratulations.
