Mission to Keep National Highways Open During Monsoon Rains

Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Mr. Muhammad Shehryar Sultan, arrived in Muzaffarabad yesterday during his visit to Azad Kashmir, conducted on the instructions of the Federal Minister for Communications.

The purpose of the visit was to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on all NHA-administered highways during the monsoon season.

Chairman NHA visited several key locations and issued on-ground instructions to field officers. He paid special attention to landslide-prone sections of the Kohala–Muzaffarabad Road.

On this occasion, he directed the officers and staff to remain alert and available around the clock to respond to any unforeseen situation, and to ensure complete preparedness for emergency response.

He further instructed that heavy machinery must be kept ready on both sides of landslide-prone areas, and that all possible preventive measures should be taken to minimize risks. In the event of a landslide, clearance operations must be launched immediately.
