Kashmiris observing Right to Self-Determination Day
ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control, as well as around the world, are observing the Right to Self-Determination Day today, reaffirming their commitment to continue their struggle until they achieve their internationally recognized, inalienable right.

On January 5, 1949, the UN Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to determine their own future through a UN-supervised plebiscite.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a special session of the AJK Legislative Assembly will be held today.
The members will highlight the international community’s obligations regarding Kashmir and condemn the severe human rights abuses committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In Muzaffarabad, Pasban-e-Hurriyat and other Hurriyat organizations have organized rallies at Shaheed Burhan Muzaffarwani Chowk to observe the day.
