ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch welcomed 14 ambassadors from the African continent at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. This highlights the Foreign Ministry’s commitment to enhancing relationships with Africa in accordance with the Government’s Engage Africa Policy. During the event, a special tree planting ceremony was held under the theme of Pakistan-Africa Friendship. The planting took place in the Ministry’s garden and was followed by a joint meeting with the Foreign Secretary, where the ambassadors outlined their priorities and key aspects of bilateral relations.
Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch elaborated on the growing relationship between Pakistan and Africa and praised the valuable contributions of the African ambassadors based in Islamabad. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s eagerness for increased collaboration in various fields, particularly in trade, investment, and high-level political relations. The volume of trade has risen by 75% over the past four years, with significant potential for further growth.
Ambassador Mohammad Karmoune of the Kingdom of Morocco, who is also the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, expressed gratitude to the Foreign Secretary for the opportunity to engage in these discussions and thanked her for the remarkable planting event.
