Indian Stars Race Against Time for Fitness Ahead of IPL 2025
Islamabad: With the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season set to begin on March 22, several Indian players are working on their recovery to regain full fitness.
Among them are Mayank Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Jasprit Bumrah, whose availability remains uncertain as they continue rehabilitation from injuries sustained during international matches.
Pacer Mayank Yadav, who made an impressive impact in his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), remains sidelined due to a stress-related injury.Pakistan, Hong Kong emphasize strengthening economic, diplomatic relations
Last season, his pace and accuracy earned him a spot in India’s squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, where he claimed four wickets at an economy rate of 6.91.
However, another injury setback forced him out of action, raising concerns for Lucknow Super Giants, who had retained him for INR 11 crore in draft the upcoming season.
Head Coach Zaheer Khan stated that the franchise is closely coordinating with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to monitor his recovery, ensuring he does not return prematurely.
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson had established himself in India’s T20 setup after strong performances against Bangladesh and South Africa.
However, during the final T20I against England, he sustained an injury when a short delivery from teammate Jofra Archer struck his glove, requiring surgery.
While the National Cricket Academy (NCA) is satisfied with his batting progress, concerns remain over his ability to keep wickets in money-rich franchise cricket.
Rajasthan Royals may have to rely on Dhruv Jurel as a backup option if Samson is unable to take on full wicketkeeping duties.
Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury in the Border-Gavaskar Test ruled him out of the Champions Trophy and puts his IPL participation in doubt.
