Shaza Fatima highlighted that climate change is a significant challenge and that everyone must contribute to environmental protection. “Climate action is most impactful when it involves everyone. We cannot effectively combat climate change without the unique perspectives and energy of young people,” she said.
The Minister of State for IT also stressed the importance of launching a proper social media campaign regarding climate change. She pointed out the urgent need to eliminate pollution-causing elements.
A prime example of their commitment to supporting innovation is Ignite’s recent call for startups to present their innovative solutions in climate tech, green tech, and agri-tech at COP29. She described this initiative as a valuable opportunity for Pakistani startups to engage with global leaders, policymakers, and investors, thereby positioning Pakistan in international climate action discussions.
Furthermore, she noted that the National Incubation Centers (NICs), a flagship program of Ignite and the Ministry of IT and Telecom, play a crucial role in nurturing a variety of startups across multiple sectors, extending beyond climate-related fields to include health tech, fintech, and sustainable practices. This contributes to the development of a climate-resilient digital economy that aligns with global standards, as highlighted at COP28.
The Minister of State reiterated that the Ministry of IT and Telecom is prepared to support any initiatives that leverage technology for meaningful environmental impact. “Think of technology as a bridge that connects knowledge with action. I urge each of you to bring your talents, networks, and resources to this mission. Innovate, advocate, and collaborate across sectors and communities to create sustainable change. Your role is vital in transforming ideas into results and ensuring that climate action is both inclusive and effective,” she urged.
