ICC increases prize money for champions trophy by 53 percent
LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a 53 percent increase in prize money for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, set to commence in Pakistan next week.
As per the ICC’s announcement, the winning team will be awarded a substantial $2.24 million along with the esteemed trophy, while the runners-up will take home $1.12 million. Each of the losing semi-finalists will receive $560,000, while the teams finishing in fifth and sixth positions will earn $350,000. The teams finishing in seventh and eighth place will be awarded $140,000, with a victory in the group stage earning teams an extra $34,000.
