ICC appoints Boon, Gough and Illingworth for tri-series ODIs in Lahore and Karachi
Lahore: Australia’s David Boon, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, has been appointed to oversee the playing control team for the upcoming tri-nation ODI series featuring hosts Pakistan, along with New Zealand and South Africa.
The single-round tri-series is scheduled to take place from 8 to 14 February in Lahore and Karachi, with the recently renovated Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium set to host international cricket once again.OICCI leads pre-COP29 dialogue on private sector climate action
Pakistan will face New Zealand in the highly anticipated opening match on Saturday, 8 February, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. England’s Michael Gough, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, and Pakistan’s Faisal Khan Aafreedi, an ICC International Panel Umpire, will officiate as on-field umpires.
Richard Illingworth, also part of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, will serve as the third umpire, while Rashid Riaz, from the ICC International Panel of Umpires, will take on fourth umpire duties.
On 10 February, Gaddafi Stadium will also be the venue for the New Zealand vs South Africa clash. Richard Illingworth and Rashid Riaz will officiate on the field, while Michael Gough will act as the third umpire. Asif Yaqoob, a member of the ICC International Panel of Umpires, will serve as the fourth umpire for this day match.
The action will then shift to Karachi’s National Bank Stadium for the final league match and the championship decider. Asif Yaqoob and Michael Gough will pair up as the on-field umpires for the Pakistan vs South Africa encounter, while Richard Illingworth and Faisal Khan Aafreedi will serve as the third and fourth umpires, respectively.
In the grand finale on Friday, 14 February, ICC Elite Panel Umpire Ahsan Raza will be one of the on-field umpires alongside Richard Illingworth. Michael Gough will assume third umpire responsibilities, while Asif Yaqoob will function as the fourth umpire for the title match.
