KE Reduces 23% Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Staff Report

K-Electric (KE) did really well by cutting down 23% Greenhouse Gas Emissions compared to FY 22, a success attributed to the integration of highly efficient energy generation.

They also spent a big chunk of money, Rs 150 million to fix things for cities and communities.

But that’s not it. KE did cool things like Hara Qadam and got people to use less paper for bills.

And guess what? They saved 4,000 trees, stopped 94,000 kg of waste, and saved a massive 200 million liters of water. Talk about being super green!

They just spilled all the details in their report called “Powering Possibilities.” CEO KE Moonis Alvi, talked about the tricky parts of the energy business – keeping things sustainable, affordable, and secure. Not an easy job!

The report covers everything KE did from July 01, 2022, to June 30, 2023. They connected it to 11 out of the 17 goals that the United Nations wants everyone to reach.

Things like making sure people are healthy, getting a good education, and having clean water.

KE’s School Safety Campaign reached a big 57,000 kids in risky parts of Karachi. The Roshni Baji program lit up 200,000 households, spreading safety tips like crazy. And get this – they made sure 90% of the women working there get paid the same. KE Consumers To Face Rs 1.7 Per Unit Increase in Electricity Rates

KE’s Sustainability Report is like a superhero cape for the power world. It’s not just about being green; it’s also a smart move for business.

It shows that doing things in a way that’s good for the planet also makes everything work better and makes everyone trust them more.
